Reinforce Your LS1 Engine
Prevent broken starter mount expenses before they happen. Todays high torque starters can cause damage to aluminum engine blocks that can turn them into boat anchors.
Quick fix for a major problem currently facing LS engine owners
For broken blocks the choice is limited, pull the engine, tear it down and have the block welded or buy a new block. The trinity starter bracket can save you thousands of dollars, wasted time waiting for assembly, and a lot of grief. Our product solves your problem in a few hours.

Given that the engine block is currently out of the vehicle, welding the fractured starter mounting ear is a practical repair option. The primary concern with welding aluminum castings is the significant localized heat input, which can introduce residual stresses or distortion if cooling is not properly controlled. Original equipment manufacturers mitigate these risks through extended, controlled cooling cycles—often spanning multiple days—to preserve material integrity.
While some enthusiasts have reported successful in-vehicle welding repairs on forums, sourcing a qualified welder willing to perform the repair with the block still installed in the vehicle can be difficult. We brought this up to our local machine shop and they confirmed they routinely weld these components with the block removed and then machine the repaired surface smooth and flat. This out-of-vehicle approach allows for proper fixturing, heat management, and post-weld machining, making welding a reliable and repeatable solution.
Once the mounting ear has been restored, the Trinity Starter Bracket can be installed without any modifications to the engine block. The design provides adequate clearance for adjoining parts, even in tight packaging environments such as a 2000 SS equipped with long-tube headers.
The bracket is engineered to absorb and redistribute the high torsional loads generated by modern high-torque starter motors. Because the primary twisting force acts on the outer portion of the mounting ear, a sound weld on the inner face places very little torsional stress on the inner retaining bolt, the outer bolt carries most of the load. Adding the bracket after repair therefore serves as inexpensive insurance against recurrence—far more cost-effective than the labor and downtime required to remove the engine.

The Trinity Starter Bracket is engineered for installation on undamaged aluminum engine blocks. It provides secure starter retention while structurally reinforcing the mounting ears at the point of highest stress. By distributing loads across a broader contact area, the bracket significantly reduces the risk of fracture initiation under high-torque and high-compression operating conditions. In the event of a mounting ear failure, the bracket’s steel construction maintains starter alignment and operational integrity, effectively eliminating the inherent material weakness of the aluminum block.
