Quick summary

  • We use your information to fill your order, support you, and prevent fraud. That's it.
  • We don't sell your personal information.
  • We share only what's needed with the companies that help run the store, like payment processors, shipping carriers, and the distributors who ship some of our parts.
  • We never share your mobile number or text-message consent with anyone for marketing.
  • You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

This policy explains what information Planet X LLC ("Planet X Performance," "we," or "us") collects when you visit planetxperformance.com, create an account, place an order, sign up for our emails or texts, or contact us. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Orders: your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, the items you buy, and any order notes. If you fill in the optional vehicle, engine, or header field at checkout, we collect that too.
  • Payment details: you enter your card or wallet details directly with our payment processors. We don't see or store your full card number. We receive limited details from them, such as the card type, the last four digits, the expiration date, and the results of address and security-code checks.
  • Accounts: if you create an account, we store your name, email address, password (encrypted), saved addresses, and order history. You can always check out as a guest instead.
  • Contact and fit-check requests: your name, email, phone number, message, and any photos you send, such as photos of your engine block for a fit check.
  • Newsletter: your email address, and your name if you give it, when you join our email list.
  • Text messages: your mobile number, if you choose to give it and agree to receive texts.
  • Reviews, returns, and warranty claims: what you write, any photos you upload, and the details needed to handle your return or claim. If you post a product review, your name (or the name you choose) and your review are shown publicly.

Information collected automatically

  • Your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the site that sent you here, and the date and time of your visit.
  • What's in your cart and your shopping session, so the cart and checkout work.
  • Information from cookies and similar tools (see "Cookies and similar tools" below).

Information from others

  • Payment processors tell us whether a payment went through and share fraud-screening results.
  • Shipping carriers and distribution partners send us tracking numbers and delivery updates.

How we use your information

  • To process, ship, and track your order, and to send order confirmations, shipping updates, and install guide links.
  • To answer questions, run fit checks, and handle returns, refunds, and warranty claims.
  • To prevent fraud and protect our customers and our business. This includes screening payments, verifying higher-value orders, and keeping order records, IP addresses, and proof of delivery so we can respond to payment disputes.
  • To run your account, if you have one.
  • To send newsletters, deals, new-product announcements, and reminders about items left in your cart, but only if you've signed up or the law otherwise allows it. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
  • To keep tax, accounting, and legal records, and to meet our legal obligations.

Who we share your information with

We share only what each company needs to do its job for us:

  • Payment processors: process your payment and screen it for fraud. Any digital wallet options offered at checkout also run through these processors. Each processor handles your payment details under its own privacy policy.
  • Shipping carriers: USPS, UPS, and FedEx receive your name, shipping address, and sometimes your phone number to deliver your package.
  • Distribution partners: some parts we sell ship directly from a distributor's or manufacturer's warehouse. For those items, we give the distributor your name, shipping address, phone number, and the items ordered so they can ship to you. They don't receive your payment details.
  • Website and email services: our web host (Hostinger), the software that runs our store (WordPress and WooCommerce), our email newsletter tool (MailPoet), a sales tax service, a product review tool, and a spam-protection service.
  • Analytics and advertising: Google Analytics (added through Google Site Kit) and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel. See "Cookies and similar tools" below.
  • Legal and safety: when the law requires it, or when needed to protect our rights, our customers, or others, such as responding to fraud or a payment dispute.
  • Business transfer: if Planet X Performance is ever sold or merged, customer information may transfer to the new owner, who would have to honor this policy.

Text messages (SMS)

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

If you give us your mobile number and agree to receive texts, for example on our contact form, we may text you about your inquiry or order. Agreeing to texts is never required to make a purchase.

  • Message and data rates may apply.
  • Message frequency will vary.
  • Reply HELP for more assistance.
  • Reply STOP to opt out at any time.

Email newsletter

If you join our email list through a signup form or the checkbox at checkout, we use MailPoet to store your address and send our emails. New subscribers get a confirmation email first, and you're only added to the list after you click to confirm.

Our emails track whether they were opened and which links were clicked, so we can tell what's useful. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you. Order and shipping emails aren't marketing, so you'll still get those after you unsubscribe.

Cookies and similar tools

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use:

  • Necessary cookies: keep your cart, checkout, and login working and help protect the site. The site can't work without them, so they can't be turned off.
  • Analytics cookies: Google Analytics shows us which pages people visit and how they find us. Google's use of this data is covered by Google's privacy policy.
  • Advertising cookies: the Meta Pixel helps us measure our Facebook and Instagram ads and show ads to people who have visited our site.
  • Embedded videos: our install and product videos are hosted on YouTube, which may set its own cookies when you play a video.

When you first visit, a cookie banner explains how we use cookies. Analytics and advertising cookies are on by default. You can opt out of them at any time, including with the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" option, using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. You can also block and delete cookies in your browser settings. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of advertising cookies.

We use Complianz to manage your cookie choices. You can change them any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page.

How long we keep information

  • Orders, invoices, and tax records: 7 years, because tax and accounting rules require it.
  • Fraud-screening and dispute records (order logs, IP addresses, proof of delivery): at least 18 months after the order, and longer if a payment dispute is still open.
  • Accounts: until you ask us to delete your account. Order records tied to it are kept as described above.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
  • Contact messages and fit-check photos: up to 2 years, unless they're part of an order, return, or warranty record.
  • Abandoned-cart information: up to 90 days.
  • Analytics data: up to 14 months.

How we protect your information

The site uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Card payments are handled by PCI-compliant payment processors, and we don't store full card numbers. Access to customer information is limited to the people and services that need it.

No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password for your account.

Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we have about you and give you a copy
  • correct information that's wrong
  • delete your information, unless we have to keep it, for example for tax records or an open payment dispute
  • stop sending you marketing emails or texts

State privacy rights

Residents of California and several other states, including Indiana, Virginia, Colorado, and Texas, have rights under state privacy laws. These include the right to know what we collect and why, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information and of targeted advertising.

We don't sell personal information for money. Some laws treat advertising cookies, like the Meta Pixel, as "sharing" or targeted advertising. You can opt out by declining advertising cookies in the cookie banner or cookie settings, or by contacting us. We won't treat you differently or charge you more for using any of these rights.

In the last 12 months, we collected these categories of information: identifiers and contact details (name, address, email, phone, IP address), purchase history, limited payment details, internet activity on our site, approximate location from your IP address, and anything you send us, such as photos and messages. We collect and share them for the purposes and with the types of companies described above.

How to make a request

Email us or call (463) 333-9798, and we'll respond to your request. To protect you, we'll confirm your identity before we act, usually by matching your email address and order details. You can have an authorized agent make a request for you.

We'll respond within 45 days. If we turn down your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision, and we'll respond to the appeal within 60 days.

Children

This site is meant for adults and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Other websites

Our site links to other sites, such as Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, and Truth Social. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we aren't responsible for how they handle your information.

Where your information is stored

We're based in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the store changes. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we'll post a notice on the site or email customers who have accounts.
