Chevy adds a dealer-installed Aero Enhancement Kit for the ZR1 and ZR1X

The C8 ZR1’s high wing can now be angled for more downforce at lower speeds. CorvetteBlogger reports that Chevy’s 2027 order guide added a dealer-installed ZR1 and ZR1X Aero Enhancement Kit, option 5WN, for coupes that already have the Carbon Fiber Aero Package.

Downforce is air pressing the car onto the pavement, which gives the tires more grip in corners. The problem: GM rates that package at over 1,200 lb of downforce at top speed, and CorvetteBlogger notes the full figure only arrives near that speed. Per a Corvette engineer, as relayed secondhand in the report, the kit adds about 300 lb more at 186 mph.

It brings longer underbody strakes, the fins under the car that help clear turbulent air from underneath, and a new rear-wing bracket that locks the existing high wing at a steeper angle. It’s not a new wing and not adjustable. The rear fascia comes off for installation.

According to the report, 2025-27 owners with the carbon aero can order it through a dealer. Convertibles aren’t eligible. More angle generally means more drag, the air resistance that holds back top speed: Car and Driver says the carbon aero already cuts the claimed top speed from 233 to 225 mph. Chevy PR hadn’t answered CorvetteBlogger’s questions.

Would you trade a little top speed for more grip at track speeds?
