ARP’s 430-3511 kit swaps the starter mounting bolts on a GM LS engine for a pair of long stainless steel bolts. The 12-point heads are smaller than a standard hex head, which helps when headers, motor plates or the oil pan crowd the starter. Each bolt has a knurled section on the shank, and the under-head length is 4.470 in. (about 113.5 mm), sized for starters that use two long bolts. ARP makes the kit in the USA.

Check before you buy
- Starter type: For starters that mount with two long bolts. Starters with a thick billet mounting block can need longer bolts (JEGS 10042, for example, uses 4.750 in. bolts), so check your starter’s instructions
- Length: 4.470 in. is measured under the head. Compare it with the bolts your starter maker specifies
- Torque: ARP has no instruction sheet for this kit. Use your starter maker’s torque spec
Broken starter ear? If the outboard starter mounting ear on your LS block is cracked or broken, the Trinity Starter Bracket can repair it without machining. The block’s inboard starter bolt hole must still be intact. The Trinity can’t fix a block where the whole starter ear is missing.
