The JEGS 10044 is a factory-style replacement starter for GM LS engines. It keeps the OE-style cast aluminum nose cone and fixed mounting location, so it goes in like the original, while a 4.4:1 gear-reduction permanent-magnet motor handles engines up to 10:1 compression. JEGS says it’s designed to clear most oil pans and headers.

- Tooth count: Confirm your flywheel or flexplate has 168 teeth
- Compression: Over 10:1? See the JEGS 11:1 mini starter or the JEGS 14:1 mini starter
- Clearance: Check room around your headers and oil pan. Compare with the JEGS dimension drawing
- Setup: Set pinion clearance and backlash with the included shims, per the JEGS installation instructions
Mounting hardware included.
Recommended: For replacement mounting bolts, we suggest the ICT Billet LS starter bolt kit (551681) or the ARP stainless LS starter bolt kit (430-3511).
Broken starter ear? If the outboard starter mounting ear on your LS block is cracked or broken, the Trinity Starter Bracket can repair it without machining. The block’s inboard starter bolt hole must still be intact. The Trinity can’t fix a block where the whole starter ear is missing.
