The JEGS 10042 is the high-compression version of JEGS’s LS performance mini starter. Its 3.7:1 gear-reduction permanent-magnet motor puts out 170 ft-lbs of torque and is rated for engines up to 14:1 compression. A billet aluminum mounting block on the starter face can be set in 3 positions to help with clearance.

In the box: Starter with billet aluminum mounting block, (2) 10 mm x 1.5 x 4.750 in. bolts with 8 mm Allen heads, (2) 10 mm flat washers, and (2) .015 in. starter shims.
Check before you buy
- Tooth count: Confirm your flywheel or flexplate has 168 teeth
- Compression: At 11:1 or lower, the lighter JEGS 11:1 mini starter may be all you need
- Clearance: Check room around your headers and oil pan before ordering
- Setup: Set pinion clearance and backlash with the included shims, per the JEGS installation instructions

Note: This starter’s billet mounting block requires longer bolts (10 mm x 1.5 x 4.750 in., included). Standard-length aftermarket LS starter bolt kits are too short for this starter.
Broken starter ear? If the outboard starter mounting ear on your LS block is cracked or broken, the Trinity Starter Bracket can repair it without machining. The block’s inboard starter bolt hole must still be intact. The Trinity can’t fix a block where the whole starter ear is missing.
